Racing delayed a little whilst things were put back in order after this morning's high winds. Official going soft heavy in places. Glorious sunshine now. Five books in operation.
Race 1. NPPA CONDITIONS LEVEL 2
1.Wild Polly R.Duffy 14/1
2.West Lawn C Tailford 9/2
3 Shantou Moon P Barlow 20/1
Neck 5L 8 ran
They doddled round at a sensible pace and the race only really started late on. The first three drew away and had a good three way battle. Wild Polly fought off a determined challenge from West Lawn to give Rebecca Duffy a winner on her first ride. Odds on fav Eagles Rock never threatened.
Thanks for doing this Mark.
Its appreciated🙂
The times for the races were as follows and they illustrate how attrional it was today.
Race 1 7.58
Race 2 8.06
Race 3 8.01
Race 4 5.55
Race 5 6.21
Race 6 6.10
Brilliant results service today "Maelstrom" thank you very much.
Race 6 Maiden 2m4f
1 Jack The Lad J Dawson 5/4
2 Hollywood Harmon P Brown 6/1
3 Houston Calling H Edwards
8 ran 32L 8L
The market couldn't split the two 4yo debutantes Panjandrum and Jack The Lad. The former unseated at halfway and the latter survived diving at the last fence in dramatic fashion to come home a long way clear.
Race 5 Conditions level 2 2m4f
1 Rewritetherules H Edwards 4/5
2 Chilinlikeavillain H Barfoot-Saunt 6/1
3 Something Golden L Hodgins 8/1
7 ran 18L 22L
Down the back straight you could have covered the five remaining runners with a small rug. The favourite set sail for home though and soon put the race to bed. He cruised over the last two to win unchallenged.
Race 4 Ladies Open 2m4f
1 Time Leader C Brewitt 1/2
2 Kingrullah L Fenwick 5/1
3 Manwell R Hitchen 10/1
7 ran 28L and 16L
Time Leader was the star turn and won in a style according with his superior class under new pilot Clara Brewitt. Ballydonagh Boy was the only one to really get competitive late on but, after the favourite drew away from three out, he paid the price for his effort and was run out of the places.
Race 3 Mixed Open
1 Wild Romance S Halton 2/1
2 Paul Marvel H Edwards 1/2
3 Conqueredallofeurope F Foster 10/1
7 ran 2 1/2L and a distance
Againthey went sensibly and the race started in earnest with half a circuit to go. The two market leader quickly drew clear, matching strides. They had a rare tussle up the finishing straight and it was Wild Romance who proved stronger on the run to the line, staying on gamely without Shay Halton having to draw the whip.
Race 2 Maiden
1 Carlenrig J Dawson Evens
2 High On The Hill L Hodgins 3/1
3 Jardin Carre P Brown 4/1
13 Ran 10L 4L
4yo Carlenrig handled the attritional conditions well to come home an impressive winner on racecourse debut. Not unexpected it seems as he went off even money favourite. The rest were strung out like the proverbial washing line. A 200th pointing winner for John Dawson.
