Lot of chatter on social media, blaming abandonment on PPA decision to end season on Bank Holiday Monday.
Fact is that with rock hard ground and only a handful of available horses the meeting would have been an embarrassment...... Even more so if championships had been at stake.
Surely a November fixture would be far more sensible?
it seems certain areas & people who run the sport want D&C to be taken down several pegs ot two; rather than working together they keep hitting this area with stupid changes (without consultation???) ie the last 2 meetings not counting/race changes which ban 10yo+ Veteran Races/small trainer races/grass roots.. it goes on - well they will may get there way - there is now talk of a big split in the sport. if you keep reducing the meetings the whole sport shrinks- and those meetings lost can not be conjured up if things have/might turn around... & no one wants 10 meetings at Larkhill & Chaddesley do they?.we will have fewer races than Ireland next season the way things are going (why buy the loose leath for 450 races? ) but plenty of Lydstep type meetings - seems Lower Machan went to return next season with two dates in May (thats seems almost inpossible with the new charges)..
They definitely haven’t binned grassroots races as far as the (draft?) race planning doc that they released before the Donny sales appears to say.
They’ve just put out a consultation document asking for everyone’s feedback so you (and anyone else) would be foolish to miss the opportunity to give it.
I will not be giving me feedback as it will be a complete waste of time..hopefully the area sect might change something. but they get outvoted by the other areas (some say they get incentives to do so!) I could not possibly comment
Pity they didn’t think to make that decision before BD entries closed yesterday. Anyone who thought they would support Umberleigh and not go to BD has been stuffed
Or even The First Meeting of the Season ........if the current incumbent's don't hold on to it as tenaciously as Umberleigh held on to being The Last 😉

Even more reason as to why we should ALL work Nationally and not Regionally !!!
hopefully its not the death knell for this meeting - guess they could go for a Nov/ December meeting🙃
