International ptp - Irish not coming - but the big shock is why!
This seems sensible. But I am struggling to understand why the PPA have decided to announce that they are not being allowed to "avoid possible transmission resulting in the virus being spread to Ireland".
This outbreak of flu has been spreading through Europe over the last couple of months and Googling when it first was noted as an abnormal outbreak in Ireland says it was in early April. Web searches, correctly or not, provide a number of articles and posts that point the finger at a Sport's Horse sale in Ireland (from which horses were brought into UK) being the source of most of the early UK cases of this particular flu and some other un/under-vaccinated horses that were also imported from Ireland. It is undisputed that this virus entered the UK from Ireland!
The PPA stance is bonkers, the Irish horses should not be allowed to run but the reason should be to prevent them spreading the virus to our horses.
It is doubly bonkers because by stating that they don't want to risk our pointers infecting the Irish pointers they are saying they beleive there is a possibilty that it could happen and therefore completely justifying the BHA stance that our pointers should not be allowed anywhere near the regulated racehorse population.
Perfect example of the man at the top being a waste of space , should be standing up for English horses
