Tune in to BBC Radio Stoke - ‘Sport at Six’ show with Sam Fletcher this Wednesday 16th April to listen to Jayjay being interviewed live around 18:05pm about Pointing and the recent Foxhunters win. 🏆
I'm going to say it again, but Huw is the best amateur around at the moment. That was a cracking ride on the front and to get him back up to win after being headed as some effort. Well done to Joe on having the winner again as well
There’s been some silly words and some wholly unacceptable language bandied about recently but that shouldn’t cloud a superb training performance… well done JJ
The Solomon Grey v Captain Tommy spat has even made today's pages of that essential read for all pointing fans, The Daily Star. Includes a pic of Tommy hopping over an Aintree fence last year.
The owners of TC have not broken any rules (as they stand) albeit perhaps broken that unwritten rule of our amateur sport “doing the right thing”! In declaring for Kempton, they have intention to run at Kempton and therefore do NOT intend to run at Aintree and therefore I believe should not be allowed to declare at Aintree. The rule should (and will now hopefully) read “ no horse can declare (for Aintree Foxhunters) if they have run or declare to run in any race after confirmation”.
Thank you to all of you who have shown me your support on here and privately x
Sorry to read these comments. Yes We entered Tommy for Kempton & Aintree, We decided to run at Kempton, but kept our options open to also run at Aintree incase anything happened from 28th March (Confirmation of Entry) until today. As you know anything can happen with horses leading Upto races / events on the day. If anything did happen we would have still had the option to run at Aintree. It’s unfortunate that one runner misses out and I am sorry about that. It was just unfortunate that the target races were so close and we had to declare at one before the off of another. It’s quite an unusual and unique situation.
Yes without the bonus he goes to Aintree, but the bonus was there and connections chose to go for that instead. The chances of all 31 standing their ground was quite high actually. Once you accept at the 6 day stage for a race like this where the ground isn't going to change you are surely intending to run unless the horse isn't able to run.
I have no words - I have never felt so disillusioned with our sport! I have been on phone to BHA all day literally pleading with them to allow us to run. As soon as CT lined up this afternoon he became ineligible to run on Thursday, the field size drops to 29 and yet the BHA will not let us run. To say I am gutted would be an enormous understatement. I feel so let down!
All 31 horses have been declared with means Solomon Grey misses out. I have to say I think it's a bit off that Captain Tommy has been declared. I get that connections will want a safety net incase something goes wrong today, but it does mean someone else will now miss out
It is a pity that someone is on the wrong side of the cut off but it’s an expensive race to enter, not just the entry feee but having to have the horse (all horses) pre vetted adds on too. Any number of things can go wrong on race day, starting with a box breaking down on route, so I don’t blame them leaving CT in at all.
I certainly feel for you Sarah and I just don't think Captain Tommy should have been left in the race whilst there was a chance someone else could miss out. They had chosen the Kempton race so should have just accepted it whatever happened.
Not Long before the greatest race of the year in my opinion and this years contest looks like another fascinating contest at the entry stage. Any Runners stand out for you ? I fancy David Maxwell to go well on the promising Joker de Mai.

Huw misses Cheltenham hunter chase night
The most selected horse in the competition wins at 22/1. They knew!

For anyone wondering why Its On The Line wasn't entered it was because they forgot the closing date for the race and therefore forgot to enter him.
Fier Jaguen, Learntalot, Saint Calvados and Viroflay the only 4 to come out at the 6 day stage
