I was saddened to read of the passing of Lord Lipsey (David Laurence Lipsey), following a bathing incident earlier this week when swimming in the River Wye at Glasbury. He was a journalist and Labour Party politician.
David’s passion was Harness and Greyhound Racing. He was president of the British Harness Racing Club (2008/16) and was Chair of the British Greyhound Racing Board from 2004 to 2009. He was passionate about the welfare and re-homing of greyhounds.
He also had an interest in point-to-point racing, in 2022 his horse, Financial Outcome (Oliver Brissenden), won the Ineos Grenadier Mixed Open Race at Bonvilston (Carys Morris in the saddle).

David was a real enthusiast in all sports he supported . I can recall him riding in harness races and was always very courteous and friendly. A real gentleman.
