Grimpen Mire
I am trying to find out about a horse owned by the late John Robbins, called Grimpen Mire, which won the heavyweight section of the North Cotswold Hunt Members race at Springhill, ridden by Harry Wheeler.
Which year (probably 1967-1973), comments and its age would be very much appreciated. (I have the 1971 annual, which its not in, but that is my only one for that far back).

Nick and Tiggy
Probably I'm in the minority here, but i can't help but feel that this was an opportunity wasted.....
Another case of preaching to the converted ie; the green welly wearing hooray Henry picnic brigade.
Of all the problems that pointing faces ( and there are a few ๐คช). The biggest single issue is dwindling horse numbers due in no small part to owners walking away from the sport. Looking more closely at last season's stats it quickly becomes apparent that excluding bumpers and pro trained hunterchasers the actual number of proper pointers is barely over 1,000. And of those an increasing percentage are no longer privately owned. So surely the most important group to reach out to are those who are in a position to actuality buy and fund a horse.
Typically these folks will be at least middle aged and unlikely to be impressed by short attention span nonsense.
Plenty of good arguments to support the idea of switching class 3/4/5 horses to pointing but these need to be put across in a grown up and coherent fashion not in giggly tic toc style sound bites.
Pointings inability to look after owners is well documented and interestingly was highlighted by the recent survey. It seems every season there is a much heralded initiative to take more care of owners which invariably has been forgotten about by Christmas. So I'm not holding g my breath. Hopefully I'll have a couple of horses this season so I was thinking of doing a little blog on here recounting how well I am looked after ๐คฃ
