Equine Influenza

In recent weeks I have noticed that there has been pony racing at Southwell and Arab Horse racing at Goodwood, neither of which would have been permissible under the BHA's initial EI guidance.

So as we stand, does the restriction on thoroughbreds from yards not holding a full license accessing British racecourses still apply?

Sheila Crow - Legend

Sheila was a remarkable woman with many talents.Β  Ably assisted by her late husband Edward, she consistently acquired new horses, mainly from Ireland, that won in UK points.Β  This enabled her to assist Lucy win the Ladies title once and Alastair the Mens title twice. When they had retired, she built a great partnership with Richard Burton and helped him on the way to many titles and accolades, including the Cheltenham Foxhunters on Cappa Bleu.

Although her health had faded in recent times, she still took a keen interest in her grandson Henry and was able to witness him winning both Foxhunters.Β  Β She even came to her beloved Eyton in May to see him win on Count Frollo, from the car.

Sheila will be dearly missed and no doubt many stories will be shared over the coming weeks.

RIP Graham Bradley

Very sad to learn that Graham Bradley has passed away.

Yes he could sail close to the wind but one of the finest jockeys of his era. Superb horseman with a real racing brain and a proper judge of horseflesh.

Lost to a cruel disease far too early.

Umberleigh move to a Wednesday early April looks a worthwhile experiment. Any reason for question mark against one Badbury R and one Kingston B fixture?

New group for 26/27 season

There is a new group for the coming season, all forum members have been added to it unless their personal settings have declined in which case they will need to add themselves.

Look out for some more (minor) tweeks that are coming up soon too.

This group will be closed at the weekend
