GEOFFREY SALE 95 not out

Ray Newby and myself visited Geoffrey this week and were delighted to find him in good form, having celebrated his 95th birthday earlier in the month. Now resident in the Kingfisher Care Home in Newmarket we were able to reminisce about his various times when attending point-to-points. Apparently, he was first taken to a meeting, by his parents, in the Warwickshire area when only a toddler and his association with the sport was obviously kindled there. Geoffrey served in the RAF, as did Ray, so they were able to relate and remember their individual times during their careers before other subjects were discussed including Geoffrey’s amazing achievement of completing no less than 50 marathons !! We were both delighted to see him comfortably settled in his surroundings and appreciated his continued sharp mind and wit.

BELATED HAPPY BIRTHDAY GEOFFREY……..95 not out.

50 years ago. Found it in the 1975 Annual & it was a Handicap Chase. Obviously Gandalfo din't train NB that day, memory assuming as Shoemarks rode for him, I think.

Opperman didn't ride & I only picked up the Jock change from the number board. Heavily backed, a well laid out gamble. Interesting to know SP.
