Knightwick 8 November OFF
From PPA
Knightwick Saturday 8th November cancelled.
This seasons fixture at Knightwick in Worcestershire, scheduled for Saturday 8th November, will unfortunately not be going ahead.
After a recent course inspection it was agreed it was impossible to get the surface to a raceable condition in time.
For a variety of reasons, the team were unable to get on the course to begin preparations as early as they would have liked.
The prolonged dry hot summer has resulted in the surface being unworkable, and with no sustained period of rain forecast the decision has been made to cancel early.
No workable alternative date has been found, therefore there will be no point-to-point fixture at Knightwick in the 2025/26 season.

Think this might be a blessing in disguise ...... Knightwick tends to struggle with runners and there seems to be a real head of steam behind Lower Machen on the same weekend. Did seem a bit stupid to have those fixtures, which aren't that far apart, competing for the same pool of entries.
Hopefully the outcome will be reasonable fields with good racing for the season opener and a large crowd celebrating the return of a much missed course.
As for Knightwick its a nice if slightly quirky course with organisers that do a very good job of creating an " event " with trade stands and after racing entertainment. However its basically a field that is prone to flooding so only a narrow window when racing can take place and think that since its inception it has only averaged 1 fixture every 2 years.
Sadly there does seem to be a prevailing view that horse numbers will be even lower for the forthcoming season and I'm not sure I have seen anything tangible from the PPA to address the issues. Unless of course you consider reducing the number of races and fixtures as a positive initiative 😛
