I am interested in the comment re first season riders. Throughout the season we have been assured that the number of RQCs has held fairly similar to last season, if we have 66 (!?) first season riders we must, therefore, have lost a similar number of previous season riders. 66 riders giving up! 66 riders who have had a go and decided it’s not for them. This seems a awful lot to me but tbf without knowing what the normal retiring rates are (and obviously some will be retiring after some seasons of racing) or what that is as a percentage of the whole, I cannot really judge whether it is normal, depressing or a disaster.
