Paul Miller has written a comment piece for the Racing Post. In this day and age social media views seems to be all that people care about, but pointing's big issue is the lack of horses and it doesn't matter how many people watch a clip on TikTok if you don't have the horse population to satisfy the fixture list. I don't think the initiatives introduced for this season will change things much on that front although I hope that I am wrong.
On the plus side it is good to see that Racing TV are looking to feature pointing. I'd imagine Nick Luck might well have had a fair bit to do with this, but I have long thought it daft that pointing hasn't been featured on either channel.

The biggest problem and the main objective should be to somehow increase horse numbers. IMO the crowds keep coming but for how long if this isn’t sorted. The only way horse numbers will increase is via the 4 year old Sale horses…….like it or not this is the only way forward……and it’s the obvious connection between pointing and rules by moving horses from one to the other.
