Hurworth Jockeys

Driving home from a cracking day's racing at Hutton Rudby I can honestly say that, having point to pointed all my life, since being pushed around in a pram in the late 60s, I have never seen such a wonderful set of six winning rides at a meeting ever. The jockeymanship on display today was a real credit to the sport and I would urge anyone to have a watch of the videos. Tactical awareness, judgement of pace and strength in a finish were on display in abundance.

That Tom Easterby did not win the trophy for ride of the day for any of his tremendous treble might have been a bit of an outrage but in awarding it to Henry Crow for a ride on Baby Chou which was about as good as that he gave Barton Snow, it was fair enough.

Martin Harris was singing the praises of Tom Easterby on the podcast last week and I wholeheartedly agree. IMHO he's as good as anyone currently riding in points.
