Slaney Opera
I'm sure a few of us were on him at Sedgefield on Sunday and I thought it was an interesting interview with Joe Wright after the race. He basically said that the horse wouldn't be good enough for opens in points and that with a mark of 100 he thought it was better to go down the handicap route rather than stick to points/hunter chases. Obviously we are used to maidens going under rules, but it says plenty that Joe didn't think a hunter chase winner and a horse who was 3rd in the John Corbett would be able to win an open.

Which they can go down the h'cap route first, which they thought was a winnable mark, but if didn't work out can they go into hunter chase but can't do the reverse. Just look at Go Sacre Go into day at Wincanton, once it won it's point was transfer to Sally Alner'S son in law Robert Walford (same premises) and was enter in a h'cap, but now deciding to go hunter chasing. It's what call doing the best for the horse.
