Docket Man
So Lower Machen runner up was sold to Tom Malone for £35K on Friday night. Dont know what Tom Lacey paid for it as a store but can't imagine the balance sheet will show much profit 🤔 Of course as a licensed trainer the costs will be tax deductable but can't help but wonder why he didn't keep it to either try and win next time out or to run under rules from the yard?
On balance I reckon purchasers may have got a bargain, provided they are prepared to give it a little time to mature into the staying chaser it could become, especially considering some of the prices paid on Friday night.
Think this does highlight the fragility of the run to sell model. Getting any horse to the racecourse is an expensive gamble and then however fit and well schooled it is you can still get beaten by by another good one.

I also don’t understand why they accepted such a poor offer. Would of made more sense as you said to run in another maiden or run under rules. Bit of a odd one. They surely must of lost circa 20k. Will be interesting to see how much the winner goes for at the Newbury sale.
