I think yesterday was arguably the best days pointing since covid?
Brilliant atmosphere with everyone being there because they love the sport not to show off their £300 wellies and expensive picnic tables.
Yes it was a bit damp but not enough to be an inconvenience and temperature was pleasant.
Very competitive racing with the most generous odds seen pointing for a long time.
As for the racing:
Mightily impressed with the restricted winner having only its second race. The way it travelled, jumped and then went away up the hill suggests it could be a real contender for the Cheltenham intermediate final. Think the Exelbys have a lot too look forward to.
Whatever your views on run to sell stores, when the top yards all take each other on the result is good racing. Whilst winner will no doubt fetch some serious dosh the next 3 home lost nothing in defeat. Will be interesting to see if they reappear pointing in order to qualify for the bonus scheme? Lacey horse looks sure to improve for the experience.
First 2 home in mens open will win hunterchases this season!!
Hills horses are obviously very forward and can't help but be impressed Izzy and I'm inclined to think that she could take the title back from Gina this year
Big field for the open maiden and plenty of clues for future winners.
Don't normally take much notice of flat races but nice to see a small Welsh yard take the honours. I know Katy is a licensed trainers but she is steeped in pointing and has done a lot to support it in Wales over the years. Likewise great to see David Brace fielding a strong team of pointers again.
Well done and thankyou to everyone who made the return of Lower Machen possible.
