How bonkers is this.....?
Level 3 conditions at Tabley next week excludes open, level 1 & 2 winners which is fair enough. However Hunter chase and rules winners during the current season remain eligible. With the 110 series being dominated by progressive horses en route to open races the stated initiative of creating opportunities for moderate (cheap) horses seems to have floundering. Its the " not quite open horses " that have declined the sharpest ( a figure masked by the increase in bumper horses that probably only run once).
If the PPA does one thing before next season, they need to do a proper job of ensuring race conditions are properly framed.

The Tabley Race penalties were determined by the PPA and not by the meeting.
With hindsight, more thought needs to be considered for 26/27 season.
The range of conditions races, including 110 needs to be reviewed.
Easily understood race conditions and simple penalties should be the aim.
